Awesome local indoor climbing gym.
Walk up the creek behind the Svoboda Road parking lot to find a hidden cave of wonders.
Serene and scenic, just 10 minutes from town. Ideal paddleboard or picnic zone.
A nice hike with one of the most epic panoramic views of Nelson.
Giveout Creek Viewpoint / Fairly High Lookout
Great for biking, bonfires, or just catching golden hour over Nelson.
NELSON → CASTLEGAR
Where the cool kids go. Laid-back and full of good vibes.
Rock pools, cliff jumping, and pure Kootenay magic.
Mountain bike or hike your way to a stunning ridge-top view.
A peaceful riverside trail winding through lush, beautiful forest.
Tiny ferry, short hike, beautiful falls. Feels like a secret mission.
Nature's best waterslide — bring your swimsuit and your courage.
Big waterfall energy and even better rock climbing.
A quaint little pub that's always worth a stop. Not to mention the rock climbing wall out back.
A lovely forested trail in Castlegar — quiet and underrated.
NELSON → KASLO
A local favourite for sunny days and lazy evenings.
Cross the mountain into the valley — camp, swim, explore.
Kokanee Creek Provincial Park & Beach
Salmon in the fall, beach in the summer, mountain biking when you can.
A quiet walk-in campsite. Simple, beautiful, and peaceful.
Magical, wild, and totally worth it. Hit the old growth trail on your way in.
If you can find it, you deserve it. That's all I'll say.
Popular for a reason. Don't skip the caves — or the restaurant.
Hike or drive through the trees to this peaceful alpine lake.
Quick hike, huge reward. Don't miss it. Camping spots are good too.
Longest free ferry in the world. Bonus: views for days.
Short hikes, lake views, and a charming little lighthouse.
One of my favourite campsites. Remote and absolutely worth the drive. I'm a campsite 2 guy.
BEYOND KASLO
A perfect day trip. Charming towns, lake views, and endless stops.
History, mystery, and good photo ops. A must-see relic.
Remote and beautiful. Camp, swim, and do the full loop if you can.
Quiet, peaceful, and packed with camping potential.
A Jurassic Park-style drive-through — stay in your car (seriously, bears). Visit in the fall to witness the epic salmon spawn.
Drive right up to one of the best views around. Camp here for full effect. This view is INSANE.
One of the most stunning hikes in the region. Unreal views.
A big day — but the summit views are pure reward.
Big trek, top-tier payoff.

YMIR
Ride the mellow rail grade all the way to Ymir (or go full beast and hit Salmo).
Swim in the sun, then grab a pint and step back in time.
SALMO & BEYOND
A wild stretch of river loaded with incredible camping and secret swim spots.
Find the hidden entrance and earn the rights to marvel.
SLOCAN VALLEY
The crown jewel. Grab a tube and float the Slocan — this is the dream.

Pick any section and enjoy a peaceful, scenic walk.
Underrated gem for a mellow swim or sandy stroll.
The Dam Inn to Frog Peak Paved Path
A smooth, scenic ride — perfect for a bike or longboard cruise.
Quirky, cozy, and full of character. Stop in and fuel up.
Top-tier swimming hole. Bonus: some of the best bouldering around.
Explore upstream — there's magic all the way to Ladybird and beyond.
Rambling Rose Thrift / Sleep Is for Sissies (Winlaw)
Best thrift store in the Kootenays plus delicious food. Worth the valley trip.
A hidden gem in the valley. Epic canyon and waterfall. Feels like a secret spot.
Big and booming — this one's worth the detour.
The ultimate Kootenay soak. Wild, natural, and unforgettable.
Camp here once and you'll be dreaming about it forever.
A true alpine adventure. Feels like stepping into Middle-earth.
